“I can’t believe 2009 has whizzed by so fast!” says Nina Kate, whose clothing business Jane Doe Latex and career as an alt.model have shot to new intergalactic-sparkling-superstar heights over the past couple of years.
Nina Kate first popped her Bizarre cherry in Bizarre 138, after she stepped in at the last minute to replace an AWOL model on our rollergirl-themed shoot, for which she’d also crafted the costumes. We were so floored with her spunky, sassy sexiness that we put her on the cover of Bizarre 141, and she’s since become a firm favourite.
In 2010, she’ll launch a range of shoes with footwear designer Georgie Bee (who’s just made some beautiful high-heeled toe-houses for singer Paloma Faith) and travel to the States for some special, secret projects. She’s also set to produce more fashion shows after the stellar success of her Halloween showcase at fetish club Torture Garden, and recent work cladding the tits’n’bits of The Fuel Girls in custom-made rubber.
“The last 12 months have been incredibly busy, frustratingly so at moments – I’ve been forced to forgo some opportunities that were offered to me since I simply didn’t have enough time,” she sighs, raising her eyebrows until they disappear beneath her currently Smurf-coloured fringe.
“2010 is bound to be hectic too, but I’m determined to find the hours to invent some new Jane Doe accessories, as there’s been such demand for my latex spats. My husband Stitch D and I will have to keep each other alive with multiple cups of tea – and glasses of rioja! – as he’s going to be running around like a madman too; his band, The Defiled, have some amazing tours lined up. 2010 will be their year.” And yours, NK!
