Ever since we featured the furries in Bizarre 137, we’ve wanted to cover one of their conventions in these pages. With brilliant timing (it being our animal issue, and all), we infiltrated the biggest event of the UK furry calendar and mingled with the two-legged hirsuite fursuiters. Our Alix Fox kindly lent me her bright red fox outfit, but sadly I had to sacrifice the head as it was impossible for me to take photos while I was wearing it.

There were loads of people there – from full fursuiters to tail-wearers. The selection of animals included fearsome wolves, big dogs, fuzzy foxes, a cool meerkat, a brilliant boar, a blinking dragon, an awesome lion and a few bears. It’s surreal being in a room full of oversized animals playing musical chairs. One of the best things about the day was getting loads of hugs from furry folk.

They’re so cuddly you just want to take them home to snuggle up to at bedtime. Check out Tamu the lion and tell me you wouldn’t want a hug from him. Go on, admit it. You do really.
