Bloodstock 2008!

Hello! How awesome was Bloodstock? Over 30 bands played in the picturesque grounds of the 17th century Catton Hall - all in the name of METAL!

My favourite were Tyr, Opeth, Soilwork, Swallow The Sun, Alestorm and At The Gates - but more about that in Bizarre 142.

Aside from the music, there was a chance to drink beer, feel sick on the bumper cars (and whatever the hell those other scary rides were!), wave flags, and watch scary motorbike stunts. It was also cool to see so many people in costume, including the dude in a wedding dress, the caveman, and pirates aplenty – not to mention the man with a padlock through his septum, or the guy in the bright pink tutu…

The rain made the music even better (especially Soilwork!) and I still ate loads of ice cream. Did anyone else find the van with the buy two and get one free offer? :D

In true DIY style I took some pics with a disposable camera - check back in a week to see what went down… And post your comments/pics here! For now, here are a couple of my favourite bits captured on YouTube:

Opeth – ‘Heir Apparent’ – How freakin’ cool did the ending sound? Start at 7.30 if you can’t wait to hear it.

Alestorm open with The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air theme tune! And play ‘Over The Seas’! Altogether now: “Many moons ago, in a faraway land / We met an old man, with a hook for a hand!”

Later,

El x
