Who are they?
Scorpion Thunderbolt Of The Twenty-First Century Plan B - or to their dozen-or-so fans - are a self-proclaimed 'outsider metal' band that sprang from London's Aquarium Gallery, purveyors
of the roughest in art and publishing from the likes of Billy Childish, Daniel Johnston and the KLF's James Cauty. Rambunctious, sardonic and dark are terms often used to describe their music, but annoying, nefarious and really quite bad also sum up their notoriously patchy output that swings wildly from sublime genius to unmitigated crap. Obsessed with flooding, drowning and other malicious acts of God, STOT21stCPlanB make a racket best suited to a shattered, post-apocalyptic landscape - but as they rarely play live and don't have a record deal, only a select few have experienced their sonic assault.
Why should we care?
More than musicians, STOT21stCPlanB's Roland Roland, Stevie Steve and Eddie Ed produce paintings, distressed household objects and other crappy works of art, leading them to coin the term 'Stuffist' in an attempt to explain what they do with their lives. But while the work they produce doesn't always hit the spot, a sharp sense of humour and occasional flashes of greatness make them an outsider act worth following as their work evolves (if ever).
Where can I buy their music?
The next exhibition of STOT21stCPlanB 'stuff' - titled Lots Of Bits Of Death On A Sunny Summers Day - will take place at the Aquarium Gallery from 19-26 July, and the band will be playing a secret gig "somewhere in north London" to celebrate their latest show. There are also plans for a new album, once again loosely themed around death, that will be recorded when the band get a spare hour or two.
