Unmistakable Glass, all depressing and foreboding. There's a bit in the film where Judi Dench walks up some steps to a house and presses a doorbell, and with this score playing you feel like you're going to have a heart attack - she's pressing a doorbell, for God's sake, but Glass makes it seem like the world's about to explode. As well as the intensity this is also, like all his best scores, utterly hypnotic and haunting - opium for the ears.
