Co-written by horror author Jack Ketchum, this convincingly performed tale illustrates the moral chaos caused when a respected lawyer captures a feral woman in local woods, then chains her up in a basement in his backyard. Although the film’s creators employ torture porn tactics to push the boundaries of taste (we defy you not to squirm when you witness what daddy’s little boy gets up to), The Woman is a scathing depiction of the darkness that can lurk inside ‘normal’ folk.
