CV Edwards

Obscure Corner's latest eccentric

Who's he?

On first impressions, it may be hard to understand what CV Edwards is doing in Obscure Corner. After all, while most of the stuff featured here is barely listenable, CV Edwards' electronic output is rich, sensual and hauntingly melodic, like a soundtrack for the best films you've never seen. But while musicians of a similar calibre are falling over themselves to embrace fame, CV Edwards leads a mysterious and reclusive existence, releasing one CD a year through the equally enigmatic Snake Industries, while also providing an ethereal backdrop for a series of documentaries on edgy subjects such as self-harm and white supremacists, recently screened on Channel 4.

Why should we care?

Like a British Jandek - but with music you can actually listen to - CV Edwards' determination to remain on the outside means he can do things his own way, allowing his art to blossom under his own terms. And with The Simpsons' Matt Groening among his fans, it's an exciting prospect to see where CV Edwards' creative path will lead him.

Where is he now?

CV Edwards has recently played live shows with collaborators such as The Reverend Jeremiah Hobb and Countess Zapak of New York punk divas Cunt Rock Revolution, but as these appearances are rarely advertised it's hard to catch the elusive musician in the flesh. However, with the stunning albums 3361 and Glass Hearts And Paper Brains currently available via Snake Industries, and another long-player on the cards for later this year, there's plenty of work to gorge yourself on while you wait for Edwards to emerge from his self-imposed exile.

*CURRENTLY AVAILABLE: Keep an eye on Snakeindustries.co.uk to see when the new CV Edwards CD is released, and to buyhis older recordings
