The Summer Of Hate
– The ’67 Sessions
Coldspring Music

Before inciting his acolytes to murder and mutilate Hollywood residents, Charles Manson aspired to success in music. He made these recordings as demos, to get a record deal. However, the soon-to-be cult leader had very little musical talent. The sound is crappy, and the songs even crappier, even by late-60s, rich-LA-faux-psychedelia standards. These numbers have been re-released several times, but continue to fascinate. Luckily, the royalties from the sales of this cynical cash-in aren’t going to the über-racist and convicted felon, but to a victims’-rights fund.
