There are many first-person shooters around, but not many that let you cannibalise your dead foes after its just had its head sawn off by a pack of hilarious implings. The Darkness is a dark (funny that?), mean but blackly comic gaming yarn, pitting players in the blood-trodden shoes of a Mafioso hitman with supernatural powers.

Plenty of impalement, devouring and demon-raising in this one. With eccentric singer Mike Patton adding his vocal talents to proceedings, this is definitely a visceral experience for gamers with a dark side.
