So you’re a model and want to be in Bizarre?
FAQ
I love Bizarre Magazine! How do I go about appearing in it?
Luckily for you there are tons of ways to get involved. You can create a profile on our community site YourBizarre, become an Ultra Vixen – our very own team of scorching hot alt.girl readers who often appear in the mag - and/or enter our cover girl contest.
What is an Ultra Vixen?
Our ever-growing Ultra Vixen clan is populated by our feisty alt.girl readers who love to get in front of the camera, and want to appear in the magazine! Ultra Vixens don’t need to be stick-thin professional models, but pictures do need to show plenty of creativity, spark and imagination to be in with a chance of being selected.
What can I win as an Ultra Vixen?
Ultra Vixen winners will become the star of an exclusive Bizarre photo shoot and appear on a special subscribers’ cover in full, unadulterated, Vixen glory! It’s a great way to kick start a modelling career or just get your face seen by readers all over the world!
How does voting for Ultra Vixens work?
Each month, photos of eight Ultra Vixens will be featured in the magazine. Readers will then vote for their favourite, and the girl with the most votes each month goes through to the end-of-year final. This is where we upload the Ultra Vixen vote-off every month.
How do I become an Ultra Vixen?
First, create a profile at YourBizarre. Then let us know you’d like to be an Ultra Vixen (you’ll get a logo on your profile and a chance to appear in the magazine). After you’ve emailed us, go here to find out what we need to feature you in the magazine. Be active on YourBizarre. We like active readers, and you'll be more likely to be picked to go in the pages of the magazine if we see your lovely face regularly on our community site.
How can I appear in other sections of the magazine or on the cover?
Most of our pieces are commissioned directly from a small group of photographers. Under normal circumstances, we do not accept feature or cover submissions from models or photographers, but fear not! Not only can you enter our cover girl contest, or become an Ultra Vixen, but there’s also plenty of opportunity to be featured in YourBizarre – the section of the magazine dedicated to you!

Tell me about the cover girl contest.
Every year we run a competition to find a reader who will appear on the cover of Bizarre. Unlike the Ultra Vixen subcribers’ cover, this is voted for by a panel of judges and the Bizarre team. 2010’s contest is now open, and will run until July 1. Full instructions and details are here, please, please follow them to the letter.
Can you give me any advice on how to become a model?
Yes, lots. Click here to read our in-depth article on how to become a successful alt.model.
I’d like to submit pictures for Ultra Vixens/Cover Star competition but I’m a photographer/make-up artist/stylist…
Sadly, we only accept entries from people who want to be models. Why not speak to whoever you shot/made up/styled and persuade them to become an Ultra Vixen or enter the cover star contest?
Do I have to take my top off or get naked to become an Ultra Vixen or the cover star contest?
NO! Not at all. Although if you’re entering the cover star competition or want to become a successful alt. model, being shy or self conscious may hold you back. As an Ultra Vixen, it’s up to you how much flesh you flash. And always, creativity and a sense of fun is way more important than skin showing.
I want to be a model, but I’m not sure whether I have what it takes. Can Bizarre have a look at my pictures and tell me if I’m good/pretty/hot enough?
Unfortunately, we cannot respond to questions written in individual emails, or feed back about everyone’s pictures, or we’d never have time to write our glorious magazine! You have nothing to lose my entering our competitions, so just go for it!
You don’t necessarily have to be a certain shape or have a conventional look in order to be a successful model, but you definitely need to be confident; if you feel insecure about your own looks, you probably won’t feel comfortable enough to effectively carry out all the tasks that modelling involves, like pulling strong, sassy poses and taking on constructive criticism. Be honest with yourself, have a good think about whether modelling’s really the career for you, and work on your self-esteem: if you don’t believe in yourself, it will show in your pictures. I want to get my picture in Bizarre, but I’m not 18 yet…
Sorry – you need to be 18 to feature on our pages, and yes, we DO check ages.
