Robot Wars

Remote-controlled ‘bears’ to save soldiers

It seems the US is finally doing something to cut the number war casualties – by building a robot to recover injured or abducted soldiers.

The Battlefield Extraction-Assist Robot (Bear), developed by the US army, will be able to carry a soldier over rough terrain, climb stairs holding a human and even carry someone while kneeling or lying down in a covert operation.

And at this rate the Iraq war will still be going on when it’s due to be ready for testing - in five years time.
