Apparently, Bizarre is the magazine of choice for Jeremi and Nicole, the creators of these decaying death dolls’ that make Chucky from Child’s Play look like Barbie. We tracked them down to discuss the whys and whats.
What inspired the dolls?
Well, they can't really be compared to the work of Gunther Von Hagens (although some people have), but I'm fascinated by Körperwelten’s plastination sculptured. But I guess I’ve always been interested in pathology and autopsies.
How long do they take to do?
It depends on what I want each one to look like; it takes anything from a few hours to days. A Frankenstein baby with removable brain took a couple of days.
Where do you source your materials?
We get them from flea markets. Used dolls have more character. And they’re cheaper.
Due to the sensitive nature of the dolls, do you get any negative feedback?
Sometimes. A lot of people think they’re real kids, but most people love ‘em. It’s difficult keeping up with the demand. I auction them so everyone gets a fair chance.
