If you visited the Illamasqua Lounge at the Ball, you’ll have seen the huge S.O.P.H.I.E memorial wall banner. Bizarre and Illamasqua are both staunch advocates of this charity and are committed to changing attitudes towards subcultures. We thought it would be a great way for all of you who went to the Ball to leave your messages of condolence and support and also to express how proud you are to be different on the huge banners.
The memorial wall was a hive of activity on the night with many of you leaving touching tributes to Sophie and wanting to express their support for the charity. We will be giving these to Sylvia, Sophie's mother, to hang in the charity's new headquarters.
On 11th August 2007, 20 year-old Sophie Lancaster and her boyfriend Robert Maltby were kicked, stamped on and left unconscious – for nothing more than looking different. Sophie later died from her injuries. To find out more, please visit sophielancasterfoundation.com. In tribute to Sophie, Illamasqua commissioned a haunting video rendition of Sophie’s story.
Due to the success of the wall and with so many of you wanting to leave messages, and also to offer those who couldn’t get to the Bizarre Ball a chance to leave your messages of support,we have created a page here where we have written up a selection of the many positive messages left on the memorial wall and we would like you to add your own messages of support. All messages will be passed on to the S.O.P.H.I.E charity.
