Over 100 creatives displayed work at the sixth annual Act Art event. The gathering, held at The Arches in
London Bridge last month, featured installations, paintings, videos and skits – all with a size XXL shock factor.
Highlights included duo Parry & Mitch who dribbled and spat all over each other’s skin and a whitewashed Rachel Parry who pulled a pig’s liver from her vagina and used it to make a fake tongue. New York-born Coralee Lynn Rose stood on a pedestal dressed only in a white wig and shoes, holding a gargantuan blue dildo while the audience were invited to decorate her naked body. She told Bizarre: “Feeling strangers
flick cold paint against my breasts, buttocks and the back of my neck was a sensational experience, but unfortunately I passed out before I was covered in colour! I don’t know why it happened, but onlookers just assumed it was part of my act.”
In addition to the ‘What’s wrong with the world today?’ theme set by organisers Marc Massive and Oliver Frost, many artists seemed to have been inspired by the phrase, “Got milk?” Samatha Sweeting suckled strangers, Magdalena Suranyi exhibited a child’s desk disturbingly covered in drawings of kids being molested and globs of condensed milk, and Ryan Styles (Bizarre 144) smoked twenty fags while balancing
on plates and squeezing semi-skimmed from numerous rubber teats attached to his torso.
Neil Jeffries, however, prefers his tipple not to come from the nipple – to make a statement about binge drinking, he downed a bottle of gin and wrestled in the smoking area. “I popped out for a fag having finished talking about how I wanted to murder my mother on stage,” says performer Scottee, “only to be greeted by two grown men pummelling the shit out of each other.”
