Last month in her column for Bizarre, Lauren Harries said she believed it was “a woman’s right to show off her knockers”, and revealed she’d even done a topless photoshoot herself.

People who still remember her as James Harries, the precocious antiques expert from Terry Wogan’s chatshow back in the day, couldn’t really get their heads around it. And so began a frenzy of interest in seeing Lauren’s naked flesh. As soon as the issue hit the shelves, we started getting letters and emails from curious readers wanting to know where the hell they could find these pictures of Lauren as naked as the day she was born, with her “babies” (her word) just swinging in the breeze.

And so we thought, why not just print them ourselves so everyone can have a good old ogle at her and have something to put on their bedroom wall afterwards? So without further ado, here they are… The shoot took place in Ogmore, Wales, a few months ago, so early in the morning that even the sun wasn’t up. “It was about four o’clock in the morning,” Lauren says. “We had to make sure no-one was around. You get dog-walkers about six in the morning, and you wouldn’t want people walking around topless in the afternoon, would you? You don’t want people ringing the police.” But that nearly happened when one early riser stumbled across the shoot. “I had a doll that was covering my areas, but we had to scarper very quickly,” Lauren confesses with a giggle.

Surprisingly, Lauren wasn’t apprehensive in the slightest about getting her clothes off in public because “nothing” makes her nervous. “We weren’t born with clothes on were we? We were all naked when we were born. Clothes just came because of our insecurities.” The choice of black-and-white for the pictures was Lauren’s. She thinks it’s sexier: “I always feel when I watch adverts from Giorgio Armani, or whatever, that they are sexy adverts and I wanted to do sexy but tasteful as well. Black-and-white never fails. It’s like a good black dress, you know? It will never date.“And I didn’t want to be a tart. I wanted it to be romanticised and be a bit like Greta Garbo, and I think that’s what came out.” To achieve that, Lauren had to use all the skills she has picked up since she started modelling. “I’ve been learning to keep my stomach in and keep my back straight. Fashion is tits out, and modelling is stomach in. It’s basically stomach in and be very cat-like and that’s how to do it. Otherwise you can go for the Marilyn Monroe look. There are various looks I go for but they end up being my own.” And she was delighted with the results: “I wanted the pictures to be good so anybody could like them. From a truck driver to Prince Charles, I wanted everybody to like them. I can imagine Prince Charles liking them. I’m sure he has his jollies sometimes. They could go to The Sport or they could go to Hello! or they could go to a very good Playboy or they could go to whoever.” Although in one of the shots in particular it looks like Lauren is covering her tumpsy with nothing but her hands, she assures us that’s simply not the case. “That was trick photography,” she confides. “I would never do that. It looks like something it wasn’t. It was just trick photography for people to use their imagination. It was all done, as Kenny Everett would say, in the best possible taste.”
