Thank you so much for continuing to read my column. This time I’m going to tell you about our most recent Genki shoot, the most shocking we’ve ever done. It’s so disturbing that just thinking about it while I write this is making me feel sick. The whole experience psychologically-scarred me.

It all started when I got a call from a friend. “I’ve got a girl here who says she wants to eat worms,” she said. “Can you use her in a shoot?” Past experience told me that these offers rarely bear fruit, but I said she could come in for an interview anyway.

A few days later, a girl with fair skin and a slender body turned up unannounced at my office. She introduced herself as ‘Spring Bliss’. But she didn’t have an appointment so I didn’t have a clue who she was. “Who are you?” I said. “Worms… I want to eat worms…” is all she murmured in reply. And then I remembered the call.

I started to interview her. She had such a sweet voice but the things she said to me seemed completely at odds with her demure character. “I want to eat worms until my stomach is bloated. Then I want to make myself sick, puke them up and eat them all over again…”

As she told me this, her eyes settled on sitting on my desk. “I love this magazine!!” she exclaimed. When I told her I wrote this column, she got so excited. “I want to be in ! What can I do to make it happen?!” she pleaded. “I’ll do anything to be in magazine!!” she wailed, her eyes flaring.

From then on, the interview became a project meeting. We batted ideas back and forth, specifically things that would entertain all you readers. “Can you eat cockroaches?” I asked. “How about mice and scorpions? Beetle larvae? …” She gave an enthusiastic “yes” to everything I suggested and, at that point, I knew this film would be extraordinary.

The day of the shoot finally arrived. The crew were all hardened Genki veterans but even they looked daunted, perhaps realising that this was going to be a unique experience. By contrast, when Spring Joy arrived on set, her face was beaming.

We started with the scene she had asked to do: eating worms, regurgitating them and then eating them again. She also squatted over her wormy vomit and pissed on it before getting down on all fours and lapping the whole mess up like an animal.

As I watched the scene play out through the monitor, my hands and legs started shaking. It was unreal. It turned my stomach. The whole crew had their hands over their mouths, desperately trying not to puke or even look at the repulsive sight of all those chewed up worms and puke mixed together on the floor.

As soon as I said “Cut!” the crew battled to reach the toilet bowl, forgetting all about the actress. “Hold on!” I thought. “The actress’ welfare is our top priority.” But I was dashing for the toilet too. Little did I know the unimaginable horrors to come. The shoot would turn into insect mastication hell…
