Cover Star Comp

Want to be on the cover of Bizarre? Enter our 2010 Bizarre cover star competion! It's the biggest alternative modelling competition on the planet!

Skin was the winner of our 2010 cover girl contest

In 2009 we held our first ever reader cover contest. And we were swept away by the flood of entries that followed. Thousands of you entered the competition and we were staggered by the extremely high standard of your pictures, the creativity that went into making them, and your sheer gorgeousness.

The Bizarre judges chose pink-haired Skin as our winner, and she graced our October issue. She was immediately snapped up by London-based model agency Girl Management, and appeared as guest of honour at the Bizarre Ball.

This year’s competition looks set to be even more spectacular. We have a panel of judges (see below) with a huge wealth of experience in the take-no-prisoners world of alt.modelling. This year’s winner will appear on the cover of Bizarre later in the year, be invited to Bizarre events and generally get a huge jump start to their modelling career. It’s the biggest competition in the world of alternative modelling, and we want you to be a part of it!

We’re looking for the kind of cover stars that make our minds melt as well as our pants bulge. A Bizarre girl has sex appeal, but also creativity, a sense of humour and a twisted side. That’s why we want to know why you think you should be on the cover, as well showing us your pictures. It’s a tough challenge, but we know you can meet it!

So what are you waiting for? Get creative, get snapping, and get emailing. Full instructions on how to enter below.

DON'T FORGET! WE ARE ALSO ALWAYS LOOKING FOR ULTRA VIXENS FOR THE MAGAZINE TOO. WE'D LOVE YOU ALL TO ENTER IN ADDITION TO THE COVER CONTEST. SIGN UP AT YOURBIZARRE (THAT'S WHERE YOU'LL ALSO FIND THE HOTTEST PICTURES OF ALL OUR ULTRA VIXENS AND THEN FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS HERE!

Meet your judges

Dave Kelsall
Dave is Bizarre Magazine’s Art Director, and chooses which girls will be on the cover of the magazine each month. He says that

Bianca Beauchamp
Bianca’s graced the cover of Bizarre more times than anyone else. She’s an incredibly successful latex model, a shrewd businesswoman, and is an all-round lovely person.

Skin
Skin was the winner of last year’s cover girl competition – who better to gauge who has what it takes to appear on this year’s reader cover? She’s bold, bright and her star is most definitely in the ascendant.

Nina-Kate
Not only does Nina-Kate bestride this month’s cover in a model capacity, but, as a successful latex clothing designer, she also has a strong creative hand and an eye for originality. She’ll be telling us which girls have potential in the world of alt.fashion, latex couture and who’ll be able to sell the outfit from their backs.

Adam Sutherland
Adam Sutherland is the Managing Director of Girl Management model agency. Girl Management represents Bizarre regulars Vikki Blows and Kitty Lea, and have recently taken on Bizarre real girl winner Skin. “We specialise in glamour,” says Adam, “and help each girl reach her full potential. We love girls who dare to set themselves apart as something different and exciting. The glamour modelling world is moving away from bland girls next door, and more towards girls with attitude, and Bizarre is a big part of that.” Adam knows about commercial appeal, girls whose image sells magazines, and the hard reality of professional modelling.

Lithium Picnic
Possibly the best-known alt. girl photographer on the planet, US photographer Lithium Picnic AKA Philip Warner has shot some of the biggest names in the modelling business. Dita Von Teese, Mosh, Scar, Apnea as well as bands including Combichrist and Dir En Grey. Impress Lithium and you might just find yourself a muse to one of the finest girl photographers in the world today.

Christine Kessler

Christine writes our monthly fetish fashion column, and what she doesn’t know about latex, lenses and lovely ladies isn’t worth knowing. She knows the importance of personality; her pictures burst with energy, mischief and vivacity. She’ll also be looking for girls with a point of view, a good attitude, and something that sets them apart from the herd.

What makes a great picture?

Last year we had thousands of entries for our competition. So you’ll have to make yours stand out. Here’s our top ten hints for a winning picture!

1 Follow the instructions in the box below to the letter! We might not get your entry otherwise.

2 You’ve got to be bizarre! We're not just looking for nice-looking girls - we're looking for alternative, feisty, fun, confident, incredible people who have the 'Bizarre' vibe. If you don't know what the magazine's about, you're probably not right for us.

3 If you win, Bizarre will do a whole new shoot with you. So as well as being able to see exactly what you look like, we need to get an impression of how you’ll perform on a professional photo shoot.  Try to convey your personality and versatility in your picture, as well as your looks!

4 Don’t be afraid to enter again. We like girls with persistence, conviction, and self-belief! Take a new snap, and send it to us!

5 Don’t feel that you need a ‘professional’ picture. Skin’s entry pictures were of a very high standard, but girls reached the finals with pictures shot by their friends, relatives, and even themselves!

6 As well as your photos, think carefully about the 100 words telling us WHY you should be on the cover, and what makes you 'Bizarre'. We don’t want to put anyone on the cover who doesn’t have anything to say for themselves.

7 The only restrictions on the competition is that you MUST be over 18 to enter. You can be any size, shape, colour, or even gender. You can come from anywhere in the world. We actively welcome people who are different and who have something to say about being different.

8 Show us your creativity! Bizarre models contribute, collaborate and come up with their own ideas. Prove to us that you have the brains and artistic chops to go with your stunning looks!

9 We need to see what you look like. Don’t send us a picture of you hiding up a tree, or obscured by layers of Photoshopping. Send us at least two, clear pictures showing us your face and your body. Don’t be shy – models can’t be coy!

10 Your pictures DON'T have to be naked or topless. It's completely up to you. Some of our models go topless, others don't. Whatever you feel comfortable with.

11 Put yourself in the place of those who'll potentially be working with you. If you were a photographer or art director faced with a long day of shooting, you'd want your model to be professional, adaptable, and easy to work with. You'd want someone confident, but not arrogant. Someone with their own amazing ideas, but who could also take direction. Someone organised, who you could depend upon to show up well-prepared and on time - if their first email to you suggested they hadn't followed instructions you'd given them, would it make a good impression? As with many jobs, the easier you can make people's lives, the more likely they are to want to hire you.

HOW TO ENTER!

Send us images. Send one head shot and one full length photo to covercomp@dennis.co.uk, along with a maximum of 100 words saying why you think you’re the cover star we’re searching for. Make your photos as high resolution as possible. Please, don’t digitally alter the images too much – we need to be able to see what you look like.

Don’t send pictures that have been re-sized or shrunk for posting on the web – please mail the original image files taken with a digital camera, or high-resolution scans (ideally 300 dots per inch). You can send extra photos if you like, but don’t exceed 8MB per email or we won’t receive them.

You don’t have to be a pro. Amateur snaps are fine and won’t put you at a disadvantage – we can spot raw talent. But if your images have been taken by a professional, you MUST get their permission to send photos to us that could potentially appear in the magazine. We will be printing the best pictures, and by sending them to us, you are giving us permission to print them. This is incredibly important. Again, GET PERMISSION FROM THE PHOTOGRAPHER FOR US TO PRINT THE PICTURES! Othewise we can't consider your entry.

Restrictions
The competition closes on 1 July 2010. You must be at least 18 years old to enter. That means at least 18 now, and at least 18 in the photos you send – unfortunately, coming
of age by the closing date isn’t sufficient.

Never miss out on an issue of your favourite magazine. Try 3 issues of Bizarre for £1 today!
