"This photograph shows a wild monkey that has been caught and 'trained', albeit with a chain around its neck, wearing a doll’s head in the muddy roads of Jakarta, Indonesia.

This was supplied by John Little, It's just another case of animal cruelty, which is sadly, endemic in this part of the world.

I find it disturbing for a number of reasons, the obvious being a defenceless animal being mistreated but secondly the fact that the poor chap's wearing this doll mask. It's a very disturbing shot.

You can see the poverty behind the animal though, the muddy streets, shacks in the background which give you an idea why the people who catch these animals and mistreat them do what they do, simply to earn a few pennies to feed themselves."
