A motel in northern Mexico has taken desperate measures to protect their guests from the kidnappings and shootings now prevalent in the area due to the ongoing drugs war between the two local cartels. It has spent the last two years fortifying the hotel suites with sold steel doors and shutters. The Rancho El Trueno, which means the Thunder ranch, is popular with lovers and large groups due to the fact that many rooms have hot tubs, striptease poles and mirrored walls, and many guests have been scared away by the shootings and kidnappings of guests from nearby motels.
At least 70 people in this year alone had died due to the war between the two drugs smuggling cartels of the area, one of which is run by Mexico’s most wanted man: Joaquin Guzman. It is one of the most profitable cartels as it controls the smuggling roots between Mexico and Texas.
