According to reports in New Zealand, a growing number of its population's vegans are taking the phrase 'you are what you eat' to staggering new extremes. By that, we mean a stubborn refusal to get sexually intimate with any milk-glugging, meat-chomping non-vegans, claiming their bodies are a living morgue of dead animals.
The term 'vegansexuality' is the brainwork of Annie Potts, the co-director of the New Zealand Centre for Human and Animal Studies at Cantebury University, who researched the lives of 'cruelty-free consumers'.
"I would not want to be intimate with someone whose body is literally made up from the bodies of others who have died for their sustenance," one vegansexual reportedly told her, while another explained that "when people eat a meaty diet, they are kind of a graveyard for dead animals".
