Several unlucky police officers were in for a shock when they entered a flat in Essen, Germany. Instead of finding it empty, they discovered the decomposing body of the 59-year-old owner, who the coroner estimated had been dead for over seven years. The excuse offered by the officers for taking so long in finding the body?

“No one missed him. No missing persons report was ever filed.”
