Scientists in America are predicting massive swarms of cicadas to attack the Midwest this year, after laying dormant for seventeen years. These large bugs, which are the loudest insect on the planet, cannot bit or sting, but are able to overpower the sound of ringing telephones and lawn-mowers. They have very poor eyesight and the greatest threat they pose to other animals is that they may fly into them, which is no concern for many dogs and cats; who apparently tend to enjoy the high-protein snack!
