During the recent Pig of God contest in Taiwan, animal rights protesters were shocked to discover that a pig had been force fed metal and sand to increase his weight up to an astonishing 143 stone.
The pig became so immense by the time it came to be sacrificed last Saturday it took twenty men to move the animal.
Every year in Hsin Chu, the heaviest pig is slaughtered, painted and paraded through the streets. All of the farmers of Hsin Chu battle to get their pigs to be the biggest and the fattest using force-feeding techniques.
Leah Garces, WSPA International Programmes Director, called the contest "a grotesque freak show that ends in the public killing of animals".
