See Daquire onstage at this Friday's Bizarre Ball!
She might be named after a cocktail, but Daiquiri’s ‘Twisted Gypsy’ routine’s no rum do. When it comes to high standards and attention to detail, this liquor lass has everything licked, and her originality makes us feel drunk with delight. With a finale that involves bending over backwards and twirling her tassels upside down, she’s developed a skill we’ve never witnessed before.
Ms Dusk makes sure her act balances sexiness and satire, and kink and comedy – and her presentation is as smooth as a freshly-waxed upper lip.
“We first saw Daiquiri back in 2006 and, quite frankly, you wouldn’t believe she was the same performer,” says judge Kittie Klaw. “She’s truly applied herself and advanced by leaps and bounds. She’s put something new and creative together that’s all her own, and this opportunity to perform at the Ball will mean everything to her; we got the impression that some of the entrants we saw in earlier heats weren’t truly into the idea of burlesquing, nor Bizarre itself, but were merely after a free bit of promotion. I’m delighted our overall winner is genuinely committed to her art and a faithful fan of the magazine. She’s
a real ‘champion of the people’.”
The MoBfather, James Malach, adds: “In an industry where new performers mistakenly think that by simply declaring themselves a ‘star’, it somehow becomes true, Daiquiri’s a shining example of someone who understands that it actually takes time and effort as well as talent to make it in showbusiness.”
